HAX: Hocus Pocus Interactive Installation

To celebrate Halloween, we decided to create a “choose your own misadventure” experience. Using a combination of off-the-shelf face tracking software and custom software built on the Xbox XNA platform, we created a true magic mirror: users interact with the mirror (an LCD screen behind half-silvered glass) by moving their head or simply looking at a certain place on the screen. Answer a few creepy questions, and the mirror identifies you as one of 4 ghoulish characters and overlays a 3D mask that responds as if it were actually your own reflection!
