Who Are We?

Not in an existential sense, but in a seriously-who-the-hell-are-these-Hornall-Anderson-guys? way. Well, for starters, we’re curious. About the world, about technology, about business, about the power of design, about this whole acceleration of the expansion of the universe thing… you get the idea. We come to work each day excited (really) to learn and discover and hang out with a bunch of other curious people.

Bad weather. Good beer. Hornall Anderson offices. We have two locations, but we share more than just a name. Together we bring a bigger perspective and an even stronger team of passionate, curious people to each client and every project. Across eight time zones, we work to craft meaning and create interaction.

It’s OK to have fun.

This isn’t a bank. It’s not an insurance agency. It’s not an office in the way most people think of an office. It’s a place we actually like to be. This is the coolest job most of us have ever had. We’re surrounded by the best people we’ve ever worked with.

Oh, and we have beer taps in the kitchen.

Work isn’t life.

We love what we do when we’re here. But it’s just as important that we love what we do when we’re not here. It’s what gives us balance. It’s what makes us who we are. And it’s the respect of that diversity—of thought and perspective—that makes us better at what we do when we are here.

We like the sound of impossible.

It turns out that the thing we may be best at is doing something we have never tried before. That’s why we frame conversations in terms of possibilities rather than limitations. We’re more comfortable when we’re outside our comfort zone. We push hard because we know there’s always someone here to catch us.

Don’t be an asshole.

What we do is hard enough without making it harder on each other. Or on our clients. Or our vendors. Or the person who’s delivering lunch. We pride ourselves on doing great work and being great to work with. We don’t have a lot of rules around here, but being human is one of them.

Tension isn’t a bad thing.

We’re artists and business people. We use creativity and science. We balance work and life. And so on. Trying to reconcile the tensions will make you crazy. Embracing them lets all discover all the interesting territory that lives in the gray areas.
